Sketching in Zhejiang University

　　My study of computer science and technology at Zhejiang University (distance) is nearing the end, but I am not yet familiar with the campus and environment of Zhejiang University (because it is distance learning, I usually don’t need to come to school), it seems to me that I will stay Many regrets, after all, I was admitted to Zhejiang University Remote Major because I love Zhejiang University. I think that deepening my understanding of the school and accumulating the school's achievements in history, culture and art are also part of my learning. Therefore, taking advantage of the rest days before and after the May Day holiday in 2013, I was relatively free. I came to Zhejiang University six times to visit and study and start sketching.

　　At 16:00 on April 19th, after attending the Zhejiang Instrument Industry Annual Conference, I held a new sketchbook and rushed to the Yuquan campus of Zhejiang University to draw a sketch of a scene that was brewing for a long time.

　　Standing diagonally across from the school gate, in front of the scene where President Zhu Kezhen led the people of Zhejiang University to go into exile due to the anti-Japanese migration to the west, I was far away from the school gate: There was a large flow of people coming out of the school in the evening of the weekend, facing the densely passing vehicles in front of the gate. The teachers and students waited for the green light in order. I simply drew a panoramic sketch here to show the campus environment of our Forest Zhejiang University.

　　I remember that in the spring of 1981, I was a student majoring in electronic engineering at Zhejiang Radio and Television University. I came to Zhejiang University for the first time to do Basic language experiments. Thirty-two years have passed, and even my learning experience has been very different: as a practitioner of electrical measurement technology and a business manager, I have repeatedly given up the opportunity to study more macro management and read the computer of Zhejiang University. Science and technology major, in order to learn from Zhejiang University’s not to be false, not to seek false names, and is determined to find room for in-depth development and management improvement of measuring instruments and software platforms in the computer discipline; in data structure and algorithm, software engineering, database Seek new breakthroughs in courses such as management, embedded systems, operating systems, and object-oriented programming, so as to practice the truth-seeking and innovation of Zhejiang University. Relying on the support of the distance college and the learning center where I am, I have overcome difficulties that I never imagined and gradually realized my dreams. Now, I have submitted a graduation thesis that is closely integrated with my own development work. I have also seen that I am gradually completing my studies like half of my classmates. I should be able to comfort myself. Therefore, today, I am holding a paintbrush, full of deep feelings for my alma mater, and I write hard about Zhejiang University, which is striving for innovation, and paint the teachers and students who are seeking truth and exploring.

　　 On April 29th, I came to Hangzhou again. As soon as the rain stopped in the afternoon, my brother-in-law drove me to the South Gate of the Huajiachi Campus of Zhejiang University. I entered the Huajiachi Campus for the first time. I know that this is where our Zhejiang University Distance Education College is located. Our teaching management teachers work here. I also want to see the college environment. Due to the large campus, although the sky is clear, the light is still dim. I wandered around for more than half an hour, and I haven't even traveled to the teaching areas, nor even the remote college building where I was studying. As for painting, because of the dense forests, the main building and many teaching buildings are among the trees, it is impossible to paint a picture of the main building. But it was dusk, and I almost felt that I was going home empty-handed today. But when I walked to a courtyard in the south of Huajiachi, my eyes suddenly brightened: There are still picturesque scenery here, act now! I quickly took out the painting tools, moved the pen quickly, and painted nervously. Although the sky is getting darker, the stone in my heart is slowly falling to the ground. By 18:00, I finished the pretty exquisite sketch of the Huajiachi Flower Garden of Zhejiang University, and I happily walked out of the school gate.

　　The continuous spring rains made me imagine that our Zhejiang University campus will be more poetic. So the next day I came to Yuquan campus again, visited the school and prepared to sketch in time. I walked west from the road in front of the library. The dense and towering trees made the air fresh, and the hills and woods on the campus were moistened by drizzle and looked greener. Looking ahead, there are two teaching and research buildings of Zhejiang University's Department of Polymer Science and Information Technology. I remember that I visited the Department of Information and Telecommunications (called the School of Information and Telecommunications at the time) during the "March 2006 Hundred Yuyao Enterprises Entering Zhejiang University" project matchmaking activity. At that time, the project matchmaking activity was led by Dr. Wang Yongkang, the mayor of Yuyao. , Vice President Chu Jian of Zhejiang University hosted a speech, Executive Deputy Secretary Chen Zichen delivered a speech, and President Pan Yunhe made a speech. Our entrepreneurs in Yuyao signed a number of cooperation agreements with professors of Zhejiang University. 　　Because of the tall building, I couldn't get close to depicting it, so I sketched it in the distance while holding an umbrella, and completed the draft of "Two Teaching and Research Buildings of Zhejiang University's Department of Polymer Science and Information Technology".

　　I am pleased to come to the Cao Guangbiao Teaching Building, which is where our Zhejiang University School of Computer and Science and Technology is located. Many teachers who taught me professional courses should be engaged in teaching and scientific research here. Facing the single largest building and landmark building in Yuquan campus, I was unable to paint a panoramic view. Because of the wide depth of field, I could not retreat unless I climbed the surrounding tall buildings and found a suitable perspective.

　　 Passing by the Run Run Run Run Stadium and the stadium, I looked at the majestic library building and took pictures of the students in front of the bronze statue of the old principal Zhu Kezhen. Walking through the dense woods and broad lawns of the campus, I felt very comfortable.

　　 In the afternoon, I arrived at the Zijingang campus to search for scenes that could be sketched. Observing all the way, I deeply feel that the Zijingang campus is the best embodiment of modern Zhejiang University. The History Museum of Zhejiang University in the Crescent Building. The text, pictures, video data, and physical models in the museum show us the major contributions of several generations of Zhejiang University to the revitalization of China and the country through science and education; the gleaming Zijin Harbor is set against the towering teaching office building It makes me feel as if I have come to a fairyland.

　　Walking on the campus, I saw the building of the College of Foreign Languages, Culture and International Exchange of Zhejiang University, and I looked at its distinctive exterior. Thinking of going inside, it should be Zhejiang University Optical and Electromagnetic Wave Research Center, because I visited with Chinese-American scholars in 2010. I decided to draw one outside the building. After nearly 40 minutes of hard work, I completed the sketch of the "Zhejiang University School of Foreign Languages, Culture and International Exchange" scene, and also chatted with a few architectural students who passed by and watched the topic of architectural sketching.

　　My closest cousin is a graduate student of the Department of Optics and Instruments of Zhejiang University in 1962. He has recommended to me many times to visit and sketch in the Zhijiang campus. He has studied and worked there for many years and has a deep affection. The teacher Li Min who taught me English in the college also I strongly recommend that I go there to sketch. Therefore, on May 11th, I came to the Zhijiang campus of Zhejiang University (formerly known as the third branch of Zhejiang University) to visit the former site of Zhijiang University, which has a strong cultural heritage and was named a national key cultural relics protection unit. 　　 After changing the rainy weather a few days ago, it was a clear sky that day. I arrived at Zhijiang campus at 11:30 and chose the clock tower as the object of sketching. The buildings here are scattered high and low, scattered among the mountains and forests, in harmony with nature. Suitable light and green shade created conditions for me to start sketching.

　　 The south side of the bell tower is a steep hillside, and the stone steps lead directly to the arched hall of the red brick and clear water wall. Concise lines. The clock tower has three floors and partly four floors. Similar to the Gothic church’s desire to stretch to the sky infinitely, I painted its magnificent scenery on the east side of it. When the melodious bell reminded me that the time was 13:30, my sketchbook "The Bell Tower" was also completed. Only then did I remember that I was hungry.

　　After taking a rest and eating, I climbed up the stairs and came to the famous small auditorium, which is also known as the Duke Hall of Zhijiang University, also known as the Chapel and Yuying Hall. It was completed in January 1919, covering an area of ​​360 square meters and a building area of ​​439 square meters. It has a history of 94 years. It is understood that it was built with donations from the Dukes family in New Jersey, USA, and is a symbol of the church university. Judging from its western architectural style and calm style, it still shows extraordinary quality.

　　 I know that Xiahongfang was once the residence of Stuart Leiden, one of the founders of Zhijiang University. I have long wanted to find out. When I climbed from the east side of the small auditorium to the location of the Xiahongfang, I saw that the Xiahongfang is now uninhabited. Although the carved beams are of good taste, it is unfortunately not used effectively. The outer door of the upper red room was locked tightly. Looking up at the upper and lower red houses, I could not find a suitable perspective to describe these two red buildings, because the towering trees have already enclosed the upper and lower red houses strictly, so I can’t use sketches to record these two very famous buildings. 　　 I went back to the small auditorium and started sketching the scenery of the auditorium and its surroundings. I changed the phenomenon that I rarely paid attention to when I sketched on the Yuquan and Zijingang campuses. Here, people pass by from time to time and stop to watch, chat with me, and take photos with me. Just like when I was sketching in Japan, South Korea, and the United States, there were pedestrians who stopped and greeted me in the past, which also promoted the serious completion of my studies. I showed and introduced several sketches of the Zhejiang University campus to passers-by, and discussed the techniques. Everyone was friendly and interactive and had a strong artistic interest.

　　The bell tower set off by the towering trees and the small auditorium made of granite stone are very charming, and the effect of sketching with pen is good. Because they are very delicate, in order to accurately portray such good historical and cultural relics, reflect the times and the lapses of time, coupled with the rigorous need of perspective structure and highlight the contrast relationship between the sceneries on the picture, I can only paint finer than usual. The paintings took nearly two hours each, and they were almost like pen landscape paintings.

　　 I ran to several campuses of Zhejiang University, the Zhijiang campus, which preserves the true scenery of the history of our earliest higher school in Zhejiang. To

　　 At 16:30 on the afternoon of May 24, I took the opportunity of a business trip to Hangzhou and came to the Xixi campus of Zhejiang University with my colleagues, preparing to draw another sketch of the landscape of the Xixi campus. Standing on the edge of the southern lawn, I saw the contiguous buildings on the east side have their own characteristics, and immediately started sketching. After going to observe, my colleagues told me that it was Zhejiang University Education College, also called Zhejiang University Tianjiabing College.

　　 While I was worried about the sky gradually rising to the clouds, I was afraid that the rain would wet my sketchbook; while I swiftly moved the pen to record the drips ahead. Fortunately, it didn't rain in the end, but I finished the sketch before dusk.

Xixi Campus·Education College of Zhejiang University (Tian Jiabing College)

　　Going back and searching, I learned that the predecessor of Zhejiang University Education College was composed of related disciplines of Qiushi Academy and Yuying Academy founded in 1897, with a long history. Yuying College developed into Zhijiang University in 1914, Zhijiang University established the Department of Education in 1920, and Qiushi College developed into Zhejiang University in 1928. In addition, I learned that the Department of Education of Zhejiang University, established in 1929, was one of the earliest education departments in modern colleges and universities in my country. Therefore, even though I occasionally choose the buildings of the Education College of Zhejiang University as the object of sketching, I happened to find the right door and find the root!

　　 I have completed the collection and sketching of the five campuses of Zhejiang University, including Yuquan, Huajiachi, Zijingang, Zhijiang, and Xixi. I have consciously released my mood and can clearly confess to everyone: My heart is close to Zhejiang University!

　　As an amateur sketch creation, I know that I have limited availability. But what I want to express is the spirit and outlook of Zhejiang University in inheriting and carrying forward, seeking truth and innovation, and feeling the profound historical and cultural heritage of Zhejiang University with more students; and sharing the honor of Zhejiang University. Therefore, what I recorded is not only Zhejiang University, which is full of long history and cultural traditions, but also infused with my feelings for the school, and also contains the determination to continue writing a new life: I will walk with all the people of Zhejiang University.
